Black Hole (2018)
I am fascinated by the universe, especially its vastness and mystery! The idea for the Black Hole lamp was inspired after reading about an event horizon, which is theorized to surround a black hole and be the point from which no matter or radiation (light) can escape from the black hole’s gravitational pull.
The lamp features a black glass center surrounded by a high gloss automotive finish. A rotary switch in the center of the black glass operates dimmable LED lighting strips that shine in a ring on both the face and the backside of the lamp. The LED light makes an excellent night light. The bulb is switched at the socket.
I created 4 Black Hole Lamps; a pair in blue-green and a pair in red.
Materials: MDF, glass, chrome, automotive paint.
